What you can expect to see on the Grand Tour

One of the best ways to get your feet wet when you arrive in Yosemite is to take a bus tour. Enjoy the scenery and avoid an accident by taking one of several guided bus tours around Yosemite, many in Yosemite Valley. Take a look at the following trips that can be booked in advance online or by calling one of the numbers below. In addition, you can visit any of the tour desks to book your bus tour. Reservations can be made in advance for most tours, same day tours are available depending on open space on the tour. Reservations are recommended for the summer months.

Grand Tour

Bring the backup batteries for your camera on this trip, as this full day bus tour combines the valley floor tour, glacier point tour and the big trees tram at the Mariposa Grove.

Departure time and place - Promptly at 8:45 am in front of the lobby at Yosemite Lodge.

Availability - Late May to Early November, weather permitting.

Lunch - Picnic at Wawona, discounted box lunches are available. Please contact one of the tour desks above for more information on the box lunches.

Valley Floor Tour

Visit Yosemite Vally's most famous points of interest in this two hour ranger guided tour. Some of the sights you will see are Yosemite Falls, Bridalveil Falls, El Capitan, Tunnel View, Half Dome and more.

Open air trams run from late spring to early fall. During the winter months, travel in a heated motor coach with large windows to get that perfect picture.

Spanish language tours are also available

Departure Time: The Yosemite Valley Floor tour leaves several times daily from Yosemite Lodge at the Falls, Shuttle Stop #8. Please call (209) 372-4FUN for exact times and current availability or visit any Tour or Activity Desk. Year-round.

Glacier Point Tour


Glacier Point

Don't miss this 4 hour tour if you have the time. Once you see Yosemite from Glacier Point, 3200 feet above the valley floor, it is a sight that you won't soon forget. From Glacier Point, you will get a new perspective of Half Dome, Yosemite, Vernal and Nevada Falls. This tour also stops at Tunnel View which offers a wonderful view of Bridalveil Falls , Yosemite Valley, El Capitan and Half Dome.

Feeling like a hike? One way tickets to Glacier Point are available. Hike back to the valley floor via the Panorama trail or the more direct four mile trail. Trail maps can be purchased at the Curry Village Mountain Shop, the Village Sport Shop and the Glacier Point store.

Departure Times: Departs at 8:30am, 10am and 1:30pm

Where To Meet the Tour: Glacier Point tours meet in front of Yosemite Lodge at the Falls under the porte cochere. If you are taking the park shuttle, get off at stop #8.  If driving, please allow extra time for parking. The easiest way to get around Yosmemite Valley is by the free Yosemite Shuttle.

Big Trees Tram Tour

The Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias is the largest stand of Seqouias in Yosemite and the fifth largest in the world. Take the one hour and fifteen minute open air Big Trees Tram Tour to get up close to the most famous trees including the Grizzly Giant, the Fallen Monarch and the California Tunnel Tree just to name a few.

Departure Times/Place: This tour leaves every half hour between 9:30 am and 5:00 pm from the Mariposa Grove Gift Shop. The Gift shop is just 2 miles from the south park entrance.

Season: May - October, weather permitting.

Reservations: The Big Trees Tram Tour is available on a first-come first-served basis only. Reservations are not available. For more information about this unique Yosemite tram tour, please call (209) 372-4FUN (4386). (This is a local call from within Yosemite National Park.)
